Development Workshop (DW) is a non-profit organization
committed to developing local capacities to improve living conditions of poor and disadvantaged communities. Founded in 1973, DW has substantial international experience implementing technical assistance, training and research projects in more than 30 countries. Its programmes focus on the following sectors: shelter; basic services and infrastructure; livelihoods and local economic development; governance; post-conflict reconstruction and disaster mitigation. DW also provides specialist short-term advisory, evaluation and research consultancy services.
DW's work is funded by grants from non-government organizations (NGOs), national and international development agencies, and the private sector. DW is not in itself a funding organization nor does it raise funds directly from the public.
Today DW operates from three main centres: Canada, France and Angola. DW also currently has programme offices in Burkina Faso, Niger, and Vietnam and an affiliated NGO in Mali - DW Mali Habitat et Environment.
