Willowfield Gardens Tree Planting, 95 Pachino Blvd, Terraview-Willowfield School
Join our first public planting of the season We’re helping to restore the headwaters of Taylor Massey Creek Help us plant this area full of native blackberry, hawthorn and aspen You might just catch a glimpse of the resident Great Blue Heron!
By Transit: Take the #67 Pharmacy Avenue bus, from Victoria Park Station
Ask the driver for the stop nearest Pachino Blvd. It’s the third street on your right,
North of Ellesmere. Parking: On-Street or in the School lot if its open.

Taylor Creek Park Tree Planting
Just west of Rexleigh Pedestrian Bridge.
Just across the bike path from a beautiful wetland…
Help us create continuous nature right to the banks of Taylor Creek.
By Transit: Take the Cosburn 87 Bus to Haldon Avenue (just east of Stan Wadlow Park) Walk down to the parking lot. That’s our meeting point!
Parking: Taylor Creek Park Parking Lot, at the end of Haldon Avenue, below Stan Wadlow Park.

Creek Walk. Hike along Wilket and Burke Brook.
Meet at the S/E Corner of Bayview and York Mills
By Transit: The #95York Mills Bus from York Mills Station, east to Bayview
Or the Bayview #11 Bus, south from Bayview Stn. to York Mills.
Parking: Available next to the Arena, off York Mills Rd (Note: if you drive you will need to return to the starting point on your own).

Saturday May 19, 10 AM - 12 Noon
Wildlflower Walk: Todmorden Mills
Join FODE and the Todmorden Wildflower Preserve as we tour the forest behind the Todmorden Paper Mill in search of spring ephemerals including Trilliums, Jack-in-the-Pulpit and Mayapple. View map for directions.
By Transit: Take the Broadview 8, Mortimer 62 or Cosburn 87 from
Broadview Station to the corner of Broadview and Pottery Rd (also Mortimer)
Then walk down the paved trail on the south/east side of Pottery Road.
Todmorden Mills is at the bottom.
Free parking on-site at the end of the driveway

Sunday June 3, 1:30 - 3:00 PM
Heritage Toronto – Brickworks Walk
Meet at the entrance plaza, just west of the Parking lot
An industrial site since the latter part of the 19th century, tThe Brickworks is now being transformed into a valley wilderness pPark, and much more. Learn how this site has influenced the history of the city from pre-colonial times to the present, and see how is evolving in our time!
Directions: This site is not transit accessible. It can be reached by car via Bayview Ave.
Cyclists can brave Bayview Ave or access the site via the Moore Park Ravine.
Free parking on site

Saturday June 9, 10 AM - 12 Noon
Donora Wildflower Planting
Come out and help restore the Donora Ravine by planting beautiful native wildflowers from Asters to Anenome in the understory of this forest on the grounds of the historic Goulding Estate. On-Street Parking
By Transit: Take the Dawes #23 Bus from Main St. Station.

Saturday June 23, 10 AM - 12 Noon
Beechwood/Crothers Birding Walk
The Toronto Field Naturalists will help lead this walk through the beautiful Beechwood Wetlands and Crothers’ Woods area,  enjoying the sights and sounds of our local bird population.
Meet at the corner of Beechwood & O’Connor Drive Just west of Pape Ave.
Parking is on-street and free, where available.

East York Canada Day – All Day – July 1
Stan Wadlow Park – 888 Cosburn Avenue
FODE will have a display at this fun-filled day at Stan Wadlow Park in East York
Come for the rides, the games, and the fireworks…but stop by the FODE booth!
By Transit: Cosburn #87 bus from Main or Broadview Stations.
Parking (limited on-street parking in area, be warned…VERY BUSY)

Summer 2007

Saturday July 21, 1:30 - 3:00 PM
Heritage Toronto – Goulding Estate Walk
Meet at the Parking lot on the East side of Dawes Rd. Just north of Crescent Town Rd.
Join us on this tour around the last surviving structure of the Dentonia Park Farm. Hear about the history of this site, where the Massey family helped pioneer pasteurization of milk in Toronto. The surrounding grounds are beautiful, but in need of help. On this walk you’ll get to see FODE’s largest restoration project to date, involving over 3,000 trees, shrubs and wildflowers.
By Transit: Take Dawes #23 from Main Station, exit at the Park Vista Stop.
Parking: Limited on-site parking on the east side of Dawes Road.
The main parking lot on the west side of Dawes Road is near by.

Saturday July 29, 1 - 7PM
P.S. Kensington – A Celebration of Water
On the last Sunday of every month from May to October, Kensington Market becomes a pedestrian paradise. Every month has a different theme around which the day's festivities are
organized.  Join FODE and many other local green organizations, in partnership with P.S. Kensington as we celebrate all things water on July 29th. Along with displays from local green groups, look for a discussion panel on water issues, street theatre and a Lost Rivers Walk of the long buried Russell Creek.
By Transit, take the Spadina LRT south from Spadina Station to the first stop South of College, and walk West; or the Carlton/College Streetcar to Augusta Ave. and walk South. For more information, please visit www.pskensington.ca.

Sunday August 12,  1:30 - 3:00 PM
Heritage Toronto – Edwards Gardens and Wilket Creek Park
South east corner of Leslie St. and Lawrence Avenue
Enjoy an afternoon stroll with leaders from FODE and the Toronto Botanical Garden
as we explore the history of the buildings and grounds of Edwards Gardens. The walk will follow Wilket Creek south and discuss the many environmental challenges facing this creek and the beautiful ravine that provides its home.
Meet at the SW corner of the TBG/Edwards Garden parking lot by the wooden kiosk sign.
By Transit: Both the Lawrence #54 and the Leslie #51 bus stop at Edwards Gardens (corner of Leslie and Lawrence).
Free parking available on site.

Monday September 10, 6 PM
Fundraising Dinner, Allen’s. 143 Danforth Avenue
Our Annual fundraising dinner is back! Along with the the 3-course meal, enjoy complimentary organic brew, courtesy of Mill Street Brewery, fabulous door prizes worth over $500.00 and NEW this year, a complimentary glass of wine with dinner, courtesy XYZ winery. Weather permitting, we hold the dinner on the patio this year!
Come out and support the Don watershed through FODE at this wonderful event.

Saturday September 29, 1:30 - 3 PM
Challenges and Opportunities: Brookbanks Park
Join FODE as we walk through an oft' hidden jewel, Toronto's Brookbanks
park. Home to mature forests, Deerlick Creek as well as some neglected
spaces, this walk will highlight what's wonderful as well as some great
restoration opporunties.  We will also discuss the many challenges facing
urban forests and waterways and what you can do to help.

Meet in the parking lot of the Food Basics, next to Fenside Drive.
Transit access is via the York Mills 95 York Mills Bus, from York Mills
Station or Ellesmere Station.

Saturday October 13, 10 AM - 12 Noon
Taylor Creek Park Planting
Join Friends of the Don East as we continue our restoration of Taylor Creek
Park.  Help plant 200 on this gentle hillside below Stan Wadlow Park.  Meet
at the parking lot below Stan Wadlow Park, at the end of Haldon Avenue.
Transit access via Cosburn 87 bus from either Broadview or Main Stations.

Saturday October 20, 10 AM - 12 Noon
St. Clair Ravine Planting
Come and help extend the forest of St. Clair Ravine, planting along a
moderate steep hill, we will add more than 1/2 an acre of new forest,
growing habitat for local wildlife!
Meet at the Anaconda Avenue entrance to St. Clair Ravine.   Limited
on-street parking is available on Anaconda Avenue and other area streets.
Transit Access is from St. Clair Avenue (walking distance from Warden
Station).   Anaconda Avenue meets Birchmount Road, 2 blocks north of St.
Clair Avenue

Saturday October 27, 10AM - 12 Noon
Cullen Bryant Park Planting
Just north of O'Connor Drive, at the top of Coxwell Blvd  lies a small,
serene park by the name of Cullen Bryant.  Come help Friends of the Don East
add a few more trees to this lovely greenspace. Meet at the playground.
Free parking on area streets, transit access is to Coxwell and O'Connor via
the O'Connor 70 bus from Coxwell Station.

Sunday, November 18, 6:30 – 9 PM
ANNUAL POTLUCK DINNER, VOLUNTEER & PARTNER CELEBRATION
& 13th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Our annual celebration of the year's accomplishments over a pot luck social returns. As usual, FODE will supply the coffee, cream, and sugar, as well as utensils. This year, we add a new segment, saluting our volunteers and partner organizations, before easing into the Annual General Meeting. To be held at Todmorden Mills, the agenda is:

6:30 pm Coffee's ready; bring on the grub.
7:30 pm Saluting our Volunteers and Partners.
8:00 pm
