HOUSINGAGAIN-L Addition to Housing Again Bulletin No. 20

CANADIAN HOUSING AND RENEWAL ASSOCIATION COULD USE YOUR HELP!

Subject: Canadian Housing and Renewal Association Consultation Paper

This is a very important moment for affordable housing policy in Canada.
There is incredible pressure on the federal and provincial/territorial
governments to address the growing shortage of affordable housing.
Following the Federal/Provincial/Territorial meeting held in
Fredericton, a committee was established, headed by Ontario, to look
into affordable housing. CHRA will be very active in the next few
months leading up to the next federal budget or election.
Representatives of CHRA will be meeting with Members of Parliament, and
government officials to discuss ideas on how to get housing built and
acquired which will remain affordable over the long term.

CHRA has been active in promoting a number of new ways to get affordable
housing built. But they need to know that you support these methods and
that you will be able to use them in your community. That is why CHRA
launched a consultation on housing policy in the summer. A
questionnaire was mailed out at the beginning of summer. If you have
not filled it out, please do so in the next week or so. If you didn't
get it or have lost it it is available on their web site,

The original deadline was September 30, but it has been extended to make
sure that they hear from all provincial/territorial governments. But
that also means that there is more time for you to participate.
