Bio Business International Inc., the woman-run
company behind the new Terra Femme all cotton tampons,
proudly launches it's World Wide Web site containing a hilarious 15-second
animation. The cartoon features terra femme, the
sensuous, environmentally correct , non-chlorinated heroine, waging a battle
of the sexes against an awkward, chlorine bleached, environmentally toxic
male tampon, who, after the contest, will finally have a name!
Contestants are asked to provide a name for the "prince of tampons."
Winners will be selected based on humor, originality, and the timeliness
of their entries. The first prize winner will receive a year's supply of
terra femme tampons; five runners up will each receive a six month supply.
A boycott against menstrual products containing chlorine compounds and artificial
rayon fibers initiated in the United States and Canada by concerned women
in universities and environmental interest groups has halted because of
fears of SLAPP lawsuits from major manufacturers. However, the class action
lawsuit against these companies is still proceeding.
Bio Business' president, Wilhelmina Nolan, says that "The contest is
not only a timely reminder about the environmental and health hazards associated
with chlorine bleaching, but is a wonderful opportunity to alert women to
all of the health risks associated with the use of tampons." Toxic
by-products from the use of chlorine compounds include
the deadly dioxin, PCBs, furans, and a
host of other dangerous chemicals known as organochlorines.

Prince of Wales, arrives in Canada.
