terra femme Water Test
Why do terra femme tampons hold together better than chlorine-bleached rayon tampons?
Here's the explanantion:
terra femme tampons are made of long fiber, medical-grade cotton that is rolled and compressed, resulting in very low fiber loss. Since rayon fibers are not as stable as this high-grade cotton, they have a tendency to come apart when exposed to fluids. The water test shockingly demonstrates the rapid rate at which rayon tampons lose their fibers and disintegrate.
One can gather from this simple demonstration the activity of the various brands of tampons while they are contained in a woman's body. Those tiny fibers, along with the chemicals that they contain, can imbed themselves in vaginal tissue, and cause tiny ulcerations. Some brands of tampons are encased in a rayon over-wrap to inhibit fiber loss. However, the over-wrap, being itself composed of rayon fibers, has the same ability to amplify bacterial growth as the rayon fibers that it encases!
