One Child’s Village: A Global
Orphans Foundation is a non-governmental, non-religious,
not-for-profit Society of volunteers who are united
in values and who seek to enhance the quality of life
for all members of the global community, especially
those who are poor, suffering or are otherwise disadvantaged.
We support the aims established by the Millennium Development
Goals and seek to implement solutions that take into
account these important principles. We promote action
for systemic change and sustainable development through
solidarity and partnership, by nurturing community,
and by maintaining an integral, vital and stable organization.
We are not aligned with any political, religious or
tribal organization and seek to cooperate with individuals,
businesses and organizations from all cultural, religious
and ethnic backgrounds in our efforts to bring relief
and hope to those in need.
Our emphasis is on investing in today's
children – the leaders of tomorrow – through
the development and support of basic needs, security,
community and character-building education. This includes
not only guidance for them but their parents and communities
as well, with particular emphasis on the support of
orphans who have been affected or infected by HIV/AIDS.
We seek to create the conditions necessary for children
in developing nations to grow physically, emotionally,
mentally and spiritually through the provision of educational
materials and instruction, medical supplies and healthcare,
basic infrastructure, security and the development of
self-enabling outcomes. We feel it is important to integrate
these projects with the local community and to join
those communities with sister communities around the
world.
We recognize that individuals and groups within developing
nations already understand and possess the solutions
needed to overcome existing problems but often lack
the immediate resources and support needed to establish
or sustain those solutions. We seek to create partnerships
with these individuals and groups and to provide the
material and financial support for these projects and
solutions. We also seek to build bridges between communities
in both developing and developed nations in order to
engender a sense of global community and global interdependence.
This includes developing global partnerships between
schools and communities for the purposes of sharing
knowledge and resources, and the cultivation of good
relations through the exchange of cultural experiences.
