The
Canadian Humanitarian Organization for International
Relief is a non-religious, apolitical organization
with a mandate to provide the basic necessities of life
such as nutrition, shelter, health care, and education
to disadvantaged children throughout the world. We have
been a registered Canadian charity since 2004.
The
main projects we support are in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
and include:
Kid’s
Hope Ethiopia – a foster care system
and youth center for orphaned/disadvantaged children
between the ages of 6-16. Children in Kid’s Hope
are provided with a foster family, clothing, daily meals,
uniforms, tuition and books. In addition, the children
participate in numerous activities after school at the
Kid’s Hope center such as drama, art, dance, leadership,
etc…. Currently Canadian Humanitarian supports
two centers in Addis Ababa – each center accommodates
50 children. In the summer of 2008 a third center will
open benefiting an additional 50 children.
LiGA
School – a primary school for over 150
children whose families were displaced from Addis Ababa
to the outskirts of the city. Canadian Humanitarian
built a school and provides funding to pay the teacher’s
salary, uniforms and shoes for the children, medical
exams, and much more.
AHOPE
– an orphanage in Addis for over 60 children under
the age of 13 in Addis Ababa with HIV/AIDS.
PATH
Ethiopia Literacy, Education and Vocational Center –
opened in the summer of 2007 this center provides over
100 disadvantaged youth and young adults with literacy
training, remedial education, and vocational training.
Canadian
Humanitarian also supports orphanages in Haiti and St.
Vincent. CH leads regular humanitarian expeditions to
Ethiopia and occasional expeditions to Haiti and St.
Vincent that are open to participants from all walks
