A Canadian presence in Southern Sudan
Canadian Aid for Southern Sudan (CASS) is working to help the people of southern Sudan rebuild their lives and communities after decades of brutal war. CASS is engaged in projects to accomplish this and has met with the Prime Minister to discuss Canada's role.
New Pages:
- Read the Spring 2008 CASS Newsletter. Includes many current stories about the situation in Sudan and the projects that CASS is working on.
- New pamphlets available: One is on the situation with the Darfur Refugees (pdf, 360 KB) in Southern Sudan. A second one is a general-purpose pamphlet on the work of CASS (pdf, 380 KB).
- January 2008 trip to Sudan. Several teams travelled to Sudan to start new projects and check on the progress and impact of existing projects. Canadian MP's also met with refugees fleeing the violence in Darfur, and discussed what is needed to help reduce the suffering of the people there.

This Web site will let you see how Canadians can tackle problems such as slavery, child soldiers and the desperate need for schooling that exist in south Sudan.
As former child soldiers build bricks for the Canada School, Canadian Aid for Southern Sudan enters a new era.
Objectives:
-
Build schools
-
Rehabilitate former child soldiers
-
Provide training for future leaders
-
Assist in abolishing slavery
-
Promote full gender equality and human rights
-
Establish the YMCA/YWCA in south Sudan
As peace is signed between north and south Sudan, learn how you can help.CASS was present at the signing on January 9, 2005 and is now ready to fulfill its mandate in a more peaceful south. The opportunity for Canadians to make a difference is
now.
