The Multilateral Agreement on Investment ( )

Dear Fellow Canadian:

Many of us have become alarmed at the lack of interest being shown by our elected representatives to the coming Multilateral Agreement on Investment (MAI)-- the next phase in the headlong rush towards a globalized economy.

To this end, we have put together the attached materials to help concerned Canadians bring the MAI to the attention of local politicians.

It is our feeling that municipal politicians - once they learn how the MAI would affect their communities - can be our strongest allies in the battle against the international business agenda.

These days, defending and promoting our sovereignty is a tremendous challenge. What is required first and foremost are informed and involved leaders. It is our hope that by putting our case to these elected officials we will begin the debate at the local level as part of a national mobilization against the MAI.
