Push the
Canadian government to use trade as a tool for long term development
- You can make your views known to the Prime Minister, your
M.P. and your local media.
- Here is what the Canadian government could
do:
- Take a leadership role in the World Trade
Organization and elsewhere to include environmental safeguards in trade policies;
- Start focusing on long term economic and
social development, and stop pursuing short term, export-led growth
- Use the opportunity of the four year
review of NAFTA to do a serious, honest evaluation of free trades impact;
- promote social and environmental issues in the
negotiations for the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) agreement.
