Mapping Activists Across Electoral Districts

Web Networks is pleased to announce the release of an addition to the "CiviCRM" constituent relationship management system that allows organizations to view their membership database and/or mailing list subscribers according to the Canadian electoral district in which they live.

The Web team was originally tasked to produce an online application to support the Canadian Auto Workers' "CAW Connected" project, which aimed to communicate broadly with Canadian activists, including those not necessarily members of the union. We delivered a solution that included a function for mass e-mailing using consistent graphic templates, as well as powerful search and sort functions of registered subscribers.

Capturing subscribers postal codes meant we could deliver two important views on the thousands of people who have joined and continue to join CAW Connected(you can sign up yourself here):  one, we connected to Google maps to give a geographic view of the data (see the sample view here); two, we linked subscribers to our postal code to electoral district database, allowing the union to view, for example, all subscribers in a specific federal or provincial electoral district.  The obvious benefit: in a general or by election, CAW will now be able to communicate with activists with information specific to where they live, sch as who is a candidate in the riding that the union is supporting.

Web Networks specializes in highly functional and elegant solutions to complex requirements. Contact our Executive Director Oliver Zielke to have a no-pressure conversation about your own organizations' online requirements.
