Say NO to privatized hospitals
McGuinty plans private hospitals across Ontario
Why NOT Privatize?
Privatized hospitals are much more expensive than publicly built hospitals. The high costs of the for-profit deals takes money away from beds, staff and care.
On average, privatized hospitals have 20% fewer beds and provide fewer services, while for-profit companies make extra-high profit margins.
Let’s build our new hospitals – but let’s make sure they are publicly owned, operated and financed – a proven method that’s less expensive and more accountable.
McGuinty’s Hospital Privatization Plan
On May 25, 2005 Minister for Public Infrastructure Renewal, David Caplan, released his 5-Year Infrastructure Plan. The plan proposes to privatize dozens of hospitals in deals that stretch for 30 - 60 years. Since this report was released, we have found out that additional hospital redevelopments will be privatized through P3s also.
