Burlington United to Save Healthcare
Recently, the Burlington coalition held "A People’s Inquiry into Community Care Access Centres" – two well-attended weekend sessions packed with information and discussion about the critical issues in community care. Sessions included: updates regarding government regulation and impending legislation; competitive bidding; case histories; strikes; and privatization. For information about the results of the inquiry, please contact Ed Babb at 905-681-0242.

Kingston Health Coalition
Concerned about governance issues and the competitive bidding process adopted by the Kingston Community Care Access Centre, the Kingston coalition sent a delegation of its members to make a presentation at a recent CCAC Board meeting. For a copy of the deputation, please contact Ross Sutherland at 613-374-5211.

Toronto Health Coalition
The Toronto Health Coalition held a successful media conference earlier this month regarding Ontario’s proposed new health privacy act. The coalition is encouraging people to write letters to the TTC chair and the manager of Canadian Tire – two organizations who are already accessing medical information to check the health history of job candidates. A sample letter and information on the campaign are available through the Toronto Health Coalition offices at 416-929-1545.

Local coalitions across the province are organizing towards the Long Term Care forums in their communities. To join or obtain information about your local coalition, contact the Ontario Health Coalition office at 416-441-2502.
