Questions you may want to consider for your submission to the forum:

  1. Have inspections resulted in improved conditions in facilities? How can we ensure that this is the case?
  2. Have there been cuts to staffing hours per resident or to numbers of staff in your local facilities? What has this meant for staff & residents?
  3. What access to homecare issues exist in your community?
  4. How does the current resident classification system (used to assess the amount of care and funding a resident requires) work for you/your clients/your family member?
  5. What improvements do you want to see in long term care facilities and homecare?
  6. What are the major problems for you as a resident, client, advocate, family member or staff person?
  7. Do you support the key concerns listed in the backgrounders provided?
  8. What has the competitive bidding system, which forced non-profits such as the Victorian Order of Nurses and the Red Cross to compete with for-profit corporations for contracts in homecare, meant to you as a care provider/client/advocate?
  9. Do you have problems accessing the information you need or want from long term care facilities or homecare agencies (including Community Care Access Centres)?
  10. What are the best things you see happening in long term care facilities and homecare?
