Alcan has decided that 220 lives in Kemano are worth
$13 million dollars. They are making lots of promises,
but their last guarantee was that Kemano was safe for 5
years. Looks like the people whose lives were invested
in Kemano are victims of greed. It is not solvency
that forced the closure, but the need to maximize
profits. Some people have lost their jobs, their
homes, their friends and neighbors, and any "roots"
they have put down. As of this posting, there is very
little positive news for the ex-residents of Kemano.
