For approximately 13 years of my life, I lived in Kemano. I am now 17 years old. It was approximately a year and a half ago that me and my family had to leave that village. That was 6 months before the town itself had closed.
Now, months after the first fire crews went in and burned some of the building, the local television and radio stations broadcast on the news programs like it's exciting that another crew will be going in to burn more of the townsite. It seems to me that these people are proud of what they are doing to the village that so many people once loved.
Also, I have found out that some of the fire men in Kitimat have T-shirts that say "I burned Kemano". It's probably just me, but I feel like more and more people are glad to be rid of the place, except the people that had the pleasure of living there.
