There are two main
reasons for forming and joining the Co-op. The first is to save money and the
second is that it will help the environment. These reasons and
vehicle preference of our members govern the types of vehicles that the Co-op
purchases.
Small, fuel-efficient
vehicles address both of these concerns. Our first, and currently only vehicle,
is a 1999 Toyota Tercel. It is located in the Garneau district of
Edmonton on the University of Alberta campus. Further interest has been expressed in buying and operating
additional vehicles in other regions of the city. With growth in membership and additional sponsorship seed
money the Co-op will be able to expand to meet this demand.
Future vehicle
locations will be determined by the membership and will be placed within a 10
to 15 minute walking distance of the majority of users.
Future vehicles will either be new or, at the very most, two years old.
Some additional criteria we are looking to fulfill include: fuel efficiency,
reliability, warranty, comfort, and ease of use.
