Sing With Joy!

A celebration of choral singing from Early Music to African-American Spirituals and Gospel Music

Our featured guests will be twofold:

Paola Versetti is a graduate of the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music in Milan, and a specialist in the interpretation and execution of Renaissance vocal music.  She has studied Gregorian chant, contemporary choral music, choral conducting, and vocal technique, and is currently a Professor at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music in Como.  Paola is an active member of the USCI Artistic Commission in Lombardy, and is frequently called upon to adjudicate for choral competitions.Coro Anthem under the direction of Paola Versetti

Coro Anthem, meaning literally "Anthem Choir", is an award-winning mixed voice choir from Monza, Italy which specializes in Renaissance and 20th century music. Paola Versetti has been their Conductor and Music Director since 1982. The choir performs 16th and 17th century secular pieces, in Renaissance costume. Winners in the XVII Concorso Polifonico Nazionale Guido D'Arezzo.

Rosemary Sadlier was born and raised in Toronto. She has a graduate degree in social work and a teaching degree. She has been President of the Ontario Black History Society since 1993. She was instrumental in making the celebration of Black History Month a national event in Canada. A noted author, she has three books published and others in the works. She writes to give expression to the experience and achievements of African Canadians.Rosemary Sadlier, Ontario Black History Society President

This dynamic author and speaker will provide an insightful trip through the musical history of the Underground Railroad. She is sure to enlighten us all with some fascinating historical tidbits to accompany the moving gospel music, featuring a number of spirituals that were originally sung by slaves attempting to escape via the Underground Railroad.
