Introduction

Milton Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a vibrant community of faith located along the  picturesque Mersey River in Queens County (approx. 1 1/2 hour drive from Halifax).  We are no “mega-church” but our heart is as big as it gets, stretching from our doorstep to the ends of the Earth.

Summverville Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is nestled between the beautiful Broad River and the sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean.  Don’t let our size fool you!  We are a bustling community of faith, serving our neighbours and our God continuously and with great joy.

The church is connected to a much larger chain of churches, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or Church of Christ (Disciples), which are mainly located in the rest of Canada and the United States.  Activities with the General Church as well as other churches in Nova Scotia are common.  The Milton Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Summerville Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) along with their three other Nova Scotian counterparts, are heavily involved in Johnston Christian Park (JCP).  JCP is a church camp located in Digby that holds camps for youth aged 9 to 20 throughout the summer, and is also the location of a variety of adult events.

About the Chalice Symbol

chalice_img.gif (1727 bytes)The red chalice shown here and included on the background for all pages on this site is the official symbol of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

The chalice symbolizes the centrality of the Lord's Supper to Disciples’ life. The St. Andrew's Cross, the national cross of Scotland, focuses attention on the Scotch Presbyterian roots of the church. Thomas and Alexander Campbell both studied in Scotland and were Presbyterians. St. Andrew has been identified with the laity and evangelism, prominent emphases of the Disciples over the years.

The red color of the chalice signifies vitality, spirit and sacrifice.
