Many people have been asking me where to find useful tools for
maintaining their pay equity plans. I can recommend two
sources. The Federal Government published an
excellent Guide to Pay Equity and Job Evaluation several years
ago. This is a very
helpful tool for evaluating and creating job evaluation systems that
meet the requirements of pay equity. The guide has a number of
chapters, all available in a PDF format as well as in document
form. The guide helps teams identify gender neutral practices in
job evaluation. The guides were recently removed from the website
of the Canadian Human Rights Commission. However, I have posted
them here: I especially recommend the first
four chapters of Volume 1.
Volume 1,
doc 1 (Title Page)
Volume 1, doc 2 (Introduction)
Volume 1, doc 3 (Chapter 1)
Volume 1, doc 4 (Chapter 2)
Volume 1, doc 5 (Chapter 3)
Volume 1, doc 6 (Chapter 4)
Volume 1, doc 7 (Chapter 5)
You can open them in Adobe (they are PDF files) and save them to
your computer.
The Ontario Pay Equity Commission has a list of downloadable
publications on its website. Although the Commission doesn't have any
of its free model JE systems on the site, there are guidelines on
maintenance and pay equity in "proxy" workplaces (establishments with
few or no male job classes for female job classes to compare to).

On a lighter note, the image below is evidence of my early
scientific
experience.
I was a subject for my father, an audiologist, who was was researching
useful audiological tests for young patients in the mid-50s
and
used me in the demonstration he published in a professional journal.
