Synopsis

Thomas Flarety had been away for four years, studying at the Royal Academy of Learning, when his father wrote him a letter, asking him to come home for a visit. After three weeks of walking (despite his father having sent money for him to take a boat upriver) Thomas arrives home at Elmvale just in time for the May festival and immediately runs into his childhood friend, George, was has grown large and followed in his father's footsteps, becoming a smiths.
