Reaffirming first principles
At its annual general meeting October 1, 2000, The Group of 78 adopted the following
resolution:
In view of the 20th anniversary of the Group of 78 in 2001, the Group reaffirms the
directing principles of the original declaration of its 78 founding members in 1981. In
particular, the Group expresses once again its determination to work for the elimination
of nuclear weapons, an equitable sharing of the world's economic benefits, and the
strengthening of the United Nations and its institutions.
