Workshops
HCA regularly offers workshops to a variety of clients. These workshops may vary from 1/2 day to 3 weeks and may be offered on your premises or at a central location.
Following are some examples of the nature of our workshops.
Results Based Management and Evaluation 
This workshop, most recently offered in a two-day format provides the principles of results based management and indicates how they are to be applied to evaluation. Participants receive a manual, which provides a set of definitions, examples of tools to be used in this approach, and several case studies to be used in small group work. It includes a brief introduction to the evaluation matrix, the logic model/results chain and current approaches to the development of results based accountability frameworks.
Indicators Workshop 
This workshop has been offered in 1/2 day to two-day formats. The principals of indicator development are presented and illustrated with examples. It is case study approach and uses projects that your organization is working on as a practical tool for learning. Indicators are linked to logic models and results chains. Various levels of project and management performance are dealt with ranging from resources used through to outputs and long-term results or impacts. Indicators are suggested for all levels.
Use of Graphics in Evaluation 
This workshop, available in one or two day formats, includes information on standards for the use of graphics in evaluation reports and examples of various classical evaluation graphics. Use of the World Wide Web and other computer software is included in the workshop. Design and layout considerations for tables, figures, maps, photographs, graphs and other graphic devices are dealt with.
Participatory Evaluation 
In this workshop classical approaches to participatory evaluation are presented. The merits and issues associated with participatory strategies are dealt with. Participatory methods are discussed. Case studies are used.
