Workshops/Retreats    We want our own lives to grow and develop with more peace, force and joy, just as we'd like to see the world develop. And so part of our weekly meeting is dedicated to a simple and unpretentious work of personal development. This can be a reading and discussion on a humanist theme, a reflection on non-violence, or an exercise of self-knowledge. They are opportunities to look at what's important for your life, to learn and to discuss with others of a similar sensibility. Occasionally, we also hold longer seminars or retreats.

Of course, all of our many social actions are further opportunities to grow in coherence.

Non-Violence   Our most recent Non-Violence campaign was launched on May 6, 2006 with the Festival of Non-Violence in Dufferin Grove Park. It was a celebration of all the people and groups in the city who are building a non-violent world within them and around them. We will be developing other social, cultural and political activities of non-violence over the year, addressing not only physical violence, but all its forms: economic, religious, racial, sexual, psychological, moral, internal.

Café la Paz   Tired of waiting for a good conversation to break out at the water cooler or over drinks at a bar? These are occasional events held in a café where participants gather to discuss humanist topics and make new acquaintances. Each table has a different topic, and people sign up for the one that most interests them. They've been held in Riverdale, the Annex and St. Clair West.

Humanist Clubs    These clubs can be built around any interest – what makes them humanist is the value placed on the relations between the members, and on growing coherence and communication. Examples include Humanist Arts Alliance, Humanizer (community rock band), Positive Friends (HIV club), Flying Ludic Squad (games), Club of Humanist Studies, etc. Humanist clubs are "places to meet" that do not require organization, rules, funds or locales.

International Gatherings   Held at least every six months, they're a chance to travel, connect with others of the same spirit, and do some tourism of the "human landscape". Recent gatherings have been in Switzerland, Hungary, Cameroon and Mexico. Upcoming are Portugal, Argentina and Ghana.

"Contradictory and unifying actions accumulate within you. If you repeat your acts of internal unity, then nothing can detain you."
