What We Do - The Basics
The activities of the Humanist Movement spring from this fundamental question, "What kind of a world do I want to live in, and what am I willing to do to create those conditions, for myself and others?"
Humanist Movement projects tend to be organized with others in our immediate environments, ie. where we work, where we study, where we live. This approach stems from our understanding that if you want to change the world, you begin by changing your world, and then proceed outward from there.
Humanist projects are as diverse as the people who make up the movement. Neighbourhood newspapers, student clubs, political campaigns, artists' groups, environmental projects, non-violence campaigns... there is no end to the possibilities, as issues of concern can be addressed in a multitude of forms. You can work on a current project, or start your own.
Where The Activities Take Place
The central hub of all our activities is the
weekly meeting, held usually in a humanist locale or someone's home or place of work. Here
we get together to organize our activities and also to carry out simple works of personal
development.
