The Humanist Movement
The Humanist Movement is not an institution, political party or religious group. It is
instead an activist current of New Humanism, a broad-based movement that works for change
on both the personal and social levels. New Humanism affirms the equality of all human
beings and rejects violence and discrimination in all its forms. It emphasizes the need
for cultural and personal diversity, and upholds freedom of thought and belief. Members of
the Movement aspire to a world where the human being becomes society's central value; a
world where gods, the State, institutions, economic factors, or beliefs cannot be placed
above the human being.
