Lakeshore Arts is:
• A group of residents committed to improving the availability of a full range of arts,
culture and heritage activities within our neighbourhood, encouraging people of all ages
to participate
• A programmer, working in partnership with artists and arts groups to present programming
in the community
• A senior arts partner in the Lakeshore playing a stewardship role in implementing the
South Etobicoke Community Cultural Plan, as funded by the former Metro Toronto

Lakeshore Arts exists to:
• Enhance the quality of life for people who live, work and visit the Lakeshore, through the
integration of arts, culture and heritage into all aspects of community life
• Improve the availability of arts and culture in the Lakeshore Community with art shows,
literary events, workshops, festivals, theatre, music and dance performances
• Provide educational, training and development opportunities for youth and adults in
arts, culture
• Develop and foster community spirit in the Lakeshore and beyond

We are looking for new members, people that believe that the power of art can make a difference: in the community and in their lives.

PresidentJoy Davidson

Joy is currently the Director of Development for the Arthritis & Autoimmunity Research Centre Foundation at the University Health Network (UHN), having worked in the not-for-profit sector for many. Joy is active in her community and has been on the Board of Lakeshore Arts for four years.


Vice PresidentFrank Horvat
Born in Ottawa in 1974, Frank Horvat is an award-winning and critically acclaimed composer and pianist. From performing in classical recitals to playing in rock bands, Frank maintains an active schedule of performances of his own compositions and the works of others in Canada and abroad. His portfolio of compositions consists of chamber, electronic, music theatre, film, and large ensemble works. His music has been featured on TV networks like the CBC & Bravo and a variety of radio stations around the world. Released in June 07, his debut recording, I’ll Be Good!, features thirteen original compositions for solo piano performed by Frank himself.

A graduate of the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto and the Royal Conservatory of Music, Frank is also very active within the field of music education. He has maintained a very active teaching studio working with piano, theory, and composition students for many years. He is also active in conducting workshops and master classes. Frank is a proud member of the College of Theory Examiners for the Royal Conservatory of Music, the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association, and the Alliance of Canadian New Music Projects. He has recently started a new music program for students at the Karen Kain School of the Arts in Etobicoke.

Residing in Mimico with his wife, Frank is also passionate about social issues related to poverty and the environment.

TreasurerRobert Troendle
Robert brings to the board strong financial and administrative experience. A designated accountant with two decades of experience in the financial services sector, Robert has recently broadened his skills with an MBA from the Queen’s/Cornell joint program. Other volunteer experience includes United Way and Toastmasters.

Executive SecretarySusan Nagy
Susan, a long time resident of the Lakeshore is a graphic designer by training, a graduate of Sheridan College and has worked in the culture sector for over 29 years. For 7 years, she managed a team of graphic designers in the Exhibit Design Department of the ROM during their first major renovation from 1992- 98. Her passion for the arts and community combined with a dynamic management style has been instrumental in the development of youth programming (YAM – youth.arts.movement). Susan ensures that arts development is always on every agenda and that it is recognized as a catalyst to drive and foster the local economy. She is a senior member of the LASO's and a founding member and co-chair of the Toronto Community Arts Alliance (TCAA) until its expiration. Most recently, Susan was elected to sit on the Mimico BIA’s executive: spearheaded a logo design and banner project using local artists work to promote the neighbourhood. In 2004, she was bestowed with the LAMP Award of Merit in recognition for her contributions to the community and 2009 received a Certificate of Recognition as a community partner at the local high school, Lakeshore Collegiate. She has been instrumental in the growth of the organization and responsible for the move to the storefront office/gallery/workshop space. Susan has worked to re-shape existing programming with support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Ontario Works Incentive Initiative and Ontario Arts Foundation. In January 2009, she became a member of the Membership committee for Community Living Toronto to help assess current policies and create a new structure to meet a changing demographic. She assists at the Creative Village, a storefront that celebrates and showcases the work of intellectually challenged adults as a member of the Gallery committee.

As Secretary of the Board she is responsible for the general management of the corporation’s day to day affairs subject to the direction of the Board of Directors, and does not have a vote as she receives remuneration for her services.
