With a 24% increase in the average number of families helped each month, with basically no change in the average number of visits per family each month, these statistics are disappointing to see. Not much has changed for the working poor and those on fixed incomes such as Pensions, Disability and Ontario Works. This is the highest average in our short history. For each year from 2000 to 2009, seven to nine thousand individuals required emergency food assistance every month. Each number represents real people living in our community.
