Bike Culture

Bike Culture

Bike Culture is underground culture.

The only coverage of Bike Week (fortnight, really) in the
larger media that I could find was The Star and a little bit
on the CBC. I kept checking the Globe, Post, Sun, CTV, CITY(!),
Global, CFTO ... nada.

Cycling and all that goes with it in Toronto is such a rich
culture with the potential for such great stories;
Human interest, controversy, politics, health, environment,
financial or economic, social, etc. But we as a society seem
far more interested with our love/hate relationship with
cars. I am so tired of the car worship, price of gas, road
closures, road carnage, car this car that stories. It adds
to the mind numbing aspect of car culture. Cars, ads for cars
everywhere, cars everywhere, enough already.
I am tuning out.
