Bike lane bike shop provides commuters with neighbourly service

Cycle Therapy opens its doors to Toronto's East-end community

East-end cycling commuters have a new resource to help keep them on the road.
On July 17, Cycle Therapy opens its doors alongside one of Toronto's newest bike lanes,
at the corner of Dundas Street East and Boston Avenue, just east of Carlaw.

An open, welcoming space that emphasizes service over sales, Cycle
Therapy focuses on the needs of the urban cyclist. The shop specializes
in repairs and will offer regular public workshops on basic bike maintenance.

"Our goal is to make cycling a more viable primary mode of transportation,
providing similar service standards as those available to motorists" says Tomás
Berinstein, the store's founder. "You can get an oil change at 7:00
a.m. on a weekday, but good luck trying to get your flat tire patched."

Cycle Therapy's operating hours will reflect commuters' needs, with early
morning openings and extended evening hours throughout the working week.
Customers waiting for repairs can relax on one of the shop's indoor
couches or enjoy the sun in Cycle Therapy's parkette , while reading cycling
magazines or surfing the Internet through free wireless access.

In case of longer repairs, free bicycles will be available on
loan.

"We want people to feel comfortable, with no attitude or sales
pressure," says Sherri Byer, Cycle Therapy's mechanic and cycle therapist.
"Above all, we wantto keep you riding."

On Saturday, July 17, Cycle Therapy will be holding its grand opening
at 123 Dundas Street East.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., everyone is invited to come enjoy a new
community space, learn about bikes, and meet other cycling enthusiasts.
Throughout the day, Sherri Byer will be providing free workshops on bike fit,
fixing flats and safety checks. Early birds will receive free water bottles, while
balloons andface painting will be available for children all day.
