The Honk


You gotta hate the honk.




You know, when they come up behind you and almost scare
the hell out of you by honking their horn just before they pass.
I have heard various reasons for the honk.
'Oh, I am just letting you know that I was coming.'
or the ever popular reasons,
'You're riding too far to the left.'
'Stupid Cyclists!'
'You're not allowed to ride side by side'
or simply,
'Single File!'
Single file? My ass!

But there is a simple translation for most of these so-called reasons'.
'Get out of my way!!!'
It's another example of how oblivious drivers are as to the negative
impact their car has on people, the city and its communities.

I think drivers don't realize just how loud and scary their honk is to someone
who is not trapped in 1000 lbs metal fortress.
