Woman of the Year Award: General Information

We hold a luncheon every year at the end of November to honour a woman who has contributed to our society. In August the application form is available for members to submit names of women who fit the criteria for the particular topic of the year.

Articles describing the Award recipients are published in our newsletter and a list of recipients appears in our Yearbook.

Congratulations to Pearl Eliadis, Woman of the Year 2009

The Woman of the Year committee received several excellent submissions for the MCW annual award. All contenders are outstanding women who have contributed to the betterment of society. The decision was very difficult as they are all well-deserving. We thank them and pay tribute to them for their commitment to improve the conditions of humanity.

We are very delighted to announce that Pearl Eliadis is the winner of the Montreal Council of Women’s WOTY Award for 2009. Ms. Eliadis has over 15 years experience in human rights and democratic governments. She has worked both in and with governments, human rights institutions and national legal affairs offices around the world, on mandates involving economic, social and cultural rights affecting vulnerable groups, particularly women and children. Congratulations to Pearl Eliadis!
