The Periodical
Writers Association of Canada will be celebrating its 25th anniversary
during its Annual General Meeting and conference in Montreal, May 31 through
June 3, 2001.
WHAT IS PWAC?
Founded in 1976,
the Periodical Writers Association of Canada represents more than 450 independent,
professional, published writers from coast to coast. These freelance journalists
are working in a variety of fields, including travel, business, medicine,
technology, arts and culture.
The association
has been protecting and promoting their craft and livelihood since 1976.
Our members' bylines have appeared in such magazines and newspapers as
The Globe and Mail, National Post, Maclean's, L'Actualité, Trade and Commerce,
Canadian Geographic, Report on Business Magazine and EnRoute, among many
others.
PWAC has chapters
in Victoria, Vancouver, the B.C. Interior, Edmonton, Calgary, Manitoba
(Winnipeg), London, the Niagara Escarpment, Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec (Montreal),
Southeast New Brunswick, Southwest New Brunswick, and Halifax, as well
as Ontario-at-Large, Atlantic-at-Large and Prairies-at-Large sections.
