(Intervention network for persons having been subjected to organised violence)

RIVO is a network of therapists and community workers concerned with the well-being of survivors of torture and other forms of organised political violence. We offer individual psychotherapeutic follow-up of survivors free of charge via our therapists, massage therapy on the recommendation of our psychotherapists, and a variety of psychosocial supports (housing, language classes, community-building activities, ...) via our member organisations.

We also offer training on working with survivors to organisations requesting such. The nature of the training is determined by the need expressed by the organisation in question. For information please contact our office (514-282-0661;  rivo@web.ca)

We maintain working relationships with other similar organisations in Canada and elsewhere, and hold membership in a number of umbrella organisations where issues related to torture and refugees / asylum seekers can be explored (e.g. Table de concertation des organismes au service des personnes réfugiés et immigrantes, Canadian Council for Refugees, International Rehabilitation Council for Victims of Torture - during the 3-year term, Dec '06 - Dec '09, RIVO's coordinator, John Docherty, is the Canadian representative to the governing council of IRCT).
