2009 Lymphoma Research Fundraiser a Success!

people dancing

On October 9th, over a hundred people drove through the rain to the Emerald Hills Golf Club just north of Toronto to attend the first annual "Fighting with Love" fundraising dinner and dance. They had a great time!

Madison McKimm Madison McKimm, event organizer

The evening was the brainchild of Madison McKimm, who used his superb organizational skills to create a thoroughly memorable event.

Linda Galama Linda Galama, guest of honour

The guest of honour was Linda Galama, Madison's "bonus mom", who was diagnosed with lymphoma a short while ago. Linda is determined to fight this disease and beat it. When Madison asked her how he could help, she told him to raise money for research.

So Madison invited friends and family to a semi-formal cocktail party with a live dj, a silent auction, and an open bar.  The food was delicious, the venue spacious and appealing, the bartenders friendly and efficient, and the music fantastic. Many of the partygoers picked up some excellent auction swag, provided by the Silent Auction Company, and everyone wore big smiles while dancing the evening away.

$2,500 raised

And with the help of his friends, Madison's 'Fighting with Love' gathering managed to raise $2,500 for the Sunnybrook Foundation to help support the ongoing research of their Odette Cancer Centre. Thanks to everyone who contributed - we'll see you again next year!
