THE JACOBITES (THATCHERITES)

Bill's Thatcherites is based on a song known as You Jacobites By Name. Jacobite was the name given to the party which, after the Revolution of 1688, continued to support the principle of "divine right." Jacobites believe that the king holds his authority directly from "God", not that this authority has been delegated to the king by Parliament. A fitting song for Margaret as I am sure that she believed that she was "God."

For  an extensive history on the Jacobites please go to The Jacobite Heritage Page. This site also includes The Songs of the Jacobites, including the words and music for Ye Jacobites By Name (this page contains a midi file code that, depending on your browser, will load and play the music). Alternatively you can read the words to You Jacobites By Name.
