Thando (pronounced than-doe), has been singing since the age of four, Thando first took the stage at six years old, winning several talent competitions and variety shows during her career. She has formulated her craft to encompass an eclectic mix of soul, rhythm and blues, jazz, reggae and hip-hop.

No stranger to the Toronto music scene, over the years she has lent her talents to a variety of musical genres and events. She was a member of Nu Black Nation, Toronto's first all-female hip-hop group, sharing the stage with the likes of Gill Scott Heron, Public Enemy, KRS-One, and a Tribe called Quest. Her long list of accomplishments include headlining shows with the late Dennis Brown, Leroy Sibbles, Freddie McGregor and Tony Rebel and performing for dignitaries such as Nelson Mandela. In the early nineties, Thando was one of the pioneer artists instrumental in producing the record and video "Can't Repress the Cause", with Maestro Fresh Wes and Michie Mee. The song and video trumpeted the call for a dance/urban radio station that recently came to fruition with the establishment of FLOW 93.5 under the banner of the Milestone Group.

Thando's powerful delivery and stylings have gained her respect from musical peers such as Juno award winner Carlos Morgan, and the internationally acclaimed Deborah Cox. Her distinctive performances as part of the Toronto Women's Blues Revue, the Harbourfront Concert series, the Harry Jerome Awards and Breakfast Television have also garnered her accolades. She has taken on signing and acting roles in musicals such as Salome Bey's 'Rainbow World', Marvin Ishmael's 'Sweet Pan' and the smash hit gospel play 'Mama I Want to Sing' with Deborah Cox. She has also demonstrated her versatility by performing classical music at the Ford Centre for the Performing Arts with the Toronto Cantata Chorus. She has shared the bill at Bamboo Soul Nites, Brown Girls in Da Ring, Caliban Arts Theatre and the Honey Jam. More recently, along with taking part in the 2003 Bloor Street Festival and International Women's Day, she has performed on the nationally aired CBC Newsworld programme 'Play', and at Harbourfront's CBC Radio One Roots Worldwide Festival.

Thando has been warmly welcomed into AHANAIE her multi-faceted persona, vitality and consummate professionalism have helped raise the performance standards of the group.

Thando cites her musical mentors as Aretha Franklin, Deniece Williams, Angela Winbush, Bob Marley and Oumara Sangare.
