Foundation
Information
The Trillium Foundation was established in 1982 to ensure that a portion of the proceeds of the Ontario Lottery Corporation is directed toward social issues in Ontario.
As a Schedule III agency of the Ministry of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation, Trillium has an arm's length relationship with the government and is governed through a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board is currently made up of 19 people from across the province, and is reflective of Ontario's rich diversity. As well, over 125 volunteers throughout the province serve as advisors on grants, policy issues, and strategic direction. Trillium has thirteen staff.
The Trillium Foundation's focus is the development of a new social vision which provides opportunity, and promotes both individual and collective responsibility. Through our grants program, we encourage innovation and experimentation, cross-sectoral collaboration, citizen participation, and systemic change.
During our last fiscal year (1995 - 96), Trillium granted $15.5 million to 185 organizations throughout the province.
