The Effect of Osteopathic Treatment during Pregnancy

on

 Labour and Delivery

 

 

Osteopathy is a gentle manual therapy addressing the entire body to restore an optimal state of health.  Treatment is designed to normalize tensions, and restore normal movement and function of the many structures affected by pregnancy. 

 

 

The researcher, Janet Walker, a registered massage therapist, has successfully completed five years of post-graduate studies toward a Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice. The completion of a thesis is the final requirement.

 

 

Eligible participants are women in the Greater Toronto Area:

 

-         Giving birth for the first time

-         Between 25 and 35 years of age

-         In the 2nd trimester of pregnancy

-         Carrying a single fetus

-         With no history of repeated miscarriages

-         With no known complications precluding a normal pregnancy and delivery
