Who We AreThe First Annual Run, Walk & Roll for Cancer Prevention is being organized by a small group of people who are passionate about this cause. In recent years, many groups and individuals, alarmed by rising rates of cancer coupled with sparse resources for prevention, have said, ‘Let’s raise funds with an annual run.’ We decided in mid-2003 that the time had come, and immediately began planning for this first annual event in May 2004. While our working team is small, three women acting on a volunteer basis Loretta Michaud, Liz Armstrong and Sarah Dobec, we are endorsed and supported by many other individuals and organizations. Our main partner in this campaign is the Women’s Healthy Environments Network (WHEN), which is receiving funds on our behalf and issuing charitable receipts for tax purposes to all donors. WHEN has long been active in the Canadian cancer prevention movement, and is well known for its award winning documentary film, Exposure: Environmental Links to Breast Cancer (1997).
